Project Highlights
This 3 phase project resides on a 10.3 acre parcel abutting wetlands. The project includes constructing a 45,000 sf addition to an existing elementary school. The project also includes major revisions to the site layout which include a new bus/parent drop off area, removal of portable classrooms. Supreme Industries blasted, processed to 5” minus and imported 33,000 cy of rock material to the site for new parking lot and building area fills. Installation of drainage, sanitary, water, gas, electric, telephone and cable systems. The proposed construction must exist simultaneously while school is in session therefore the project was divided into several phases. Construction areas are limited.


Start 7/2004, anticipated completion 9/2006

  • Land clearing and grubbing of approximately 4 acres.
  • Removal of 15,000 gal underground oil tank.
  • Abandonment of an existing water well.
  • Install and maintain 1,000 lf of silt fence and Filtrexx Silt Sock protecting wetlands.
  • Reconstruct an active bus/parent pick –up and drop-off area in front of the existing school. The work included demolition of existing stairs, stoops, sidewalks and retaining walls along with construction of a new reconfigured pick-up/drop-off area, parking lot, handicap accessible sidewalks and entrances. This portion of the project was required to be completed prior to the beginning of school therefore compressing the timeframe from ±6 weeks to ±3 weeks.
  • Construct ±120,000 sf of pavement/parking area
  • Import ±33,000 cy of 5” minus structural fill material.
  • Excavate and backfill foundations, interior plumbing and electrical for 45,000 sf of building foot prints. Some foundations are 20 ft deep and and where the addition met the existing building, shoring was required to be installed.
  • Install ±800 sf of segmented retaining wall.
  • Excavate and backfill 170 ft of concrete retaining wall 20 ft high and 250 lf concrete retaining wall averaging 6 ft high.
  • Install two EcoStorm gross particle separators.
  • 5,000 lf of various ADS drainage piping and 42 catch basins/manholes.
  • 1,600 lf of 48” ADS underground detention system with 14 Type II catch basin structures at each end of the system.
  • 100 lf of 6” domestic water main & 100 lf of 4” fire main.
  • 600 lf of utility duct bank.
  • Landscaping package valued at $65,000.
