Project Summary:
Supreme Industries, Inc. performed the site work for the above project which consisted of developing an 8 acre parcel of land. Incorporated in the work was the development of three baseball fields, construction and paving of the park access drive and parking lot.

Site conditions dictated earth excavation (approx. 35,000 cy) and the drilling and blasting of rock (approx. 11,000 cy) and onsite processing of materials (approx. 25,000 cy) which was necessary to balance the quantities of onsite materials for the proposed work. Installation of typical site utilities included storm drainage, electrical and relocation of electrical utilities.

Environmental compliance and adherence to permit regulations were maintained utilizing the 2002 Connecticut Guidelines for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control and Best Management Practices in conjunction with DOT, OEP, and DEP officials. Sediment, erosion, and managing storm water was accomplished through the use of standard sedimentation control systems combined with the use of temporary slope drains and sedimentation traps. Located within vicinity of the project limits are sensitive environmental areas such as the Saugatuck River and associated wetlands.

Project operations:

• Placement of specified ball field drainage layer (processed granular fill) and necessary ball field under drains
• Installation of complete irrigation system for athletic fields including pump station and 3000 gallon pump chamber
• Installation of all project fencing including baseball backstops and wood beam rail
• Placement of concrete/reinforcing steel for pavilion slab and utility encasement
• Installation of a 28’x 36’ architectural pavilion
• Placement of topsoil, amendments, and seed for athletic field construction
• Perform laser grading for the athletic field construction to maintain specified contract tolerance
• Installation of 100,000 SF of the specified sod and infield clay mixture
• Provide project landscaping as contract plans specify
• Installation of the project signage and pavement markings
